Know Your Potential
If you truly want to learn how to hit to your potential you need to know what your potential is. Your potential should be as a player who can have the ability to hit for power (doubles, homers) at least 25 percent of your hits in games. Additionally, you should be able to swing the bat consistently without having to shorten up your swing all the time or bat defensively. Everyone who plays baseball above the recreational level has the capability to do this with the right training and serious players should not have any goals less than this. Players that hit .300 or over .400 usually hit the ball hard at least 70 percent of the time in games. Hitters that are swinging a great stick can hit the ball hard nearly 80 percent of the in regular batting practice.
This is the potential of most hitters and it can be learned. Finding the right information is the key. If you are a player, quit thinking that you are the problem all the time. Knowledge is power. You just have to find it!
